Take the stress out of planning your Bayfield getaway. On the blog, you'll get the inside scoop of where to go, what to see, and what to do.
Do you remember making friendship bracelets as a little girl?
All you needed was colored thread and a safety pin to hold your bracelet to your jeans while you spent hours tying knots in your favorite pattern.
Add in a few of your gal pals, and it turned into a party – a jewelry-making party. You could spend hours:
And let’s not forget giggling and spending time with your girlfriends. Is anyone else instantly transported back to their best friend’s bedroom?
I can see myself in my her bedroom sitting in a bean bag, listening to the Backstreet Boys, and talking about which one I had the biggest crush on.
This would last for hours – making our own jewelry and connecting with friends.
What if you could relive this same experience but in an adult version?
Bayfield, Wisconsin, is a cozy little town on the shores of Lake Superior. For years it’s been a haven for artists. From jewelry makers, potters, painters, and metal workers, Bayfield is known for celebrating the arts.
Lissa Flemming, owner and metalsmith of Silverwaves Jewelry Working Studio & Art Gallery. She invites beginner jewelry makers and “torch-slinging adventurers” into her fully equipped workshop.
And better yet, it’s within walking distance from Seagull Bay Lakeside Motel.
Lissa is a biologist turned metalsmith. Inspired by her travels, including living in Baja, Mexico for 18 years and now in Bayfield, Lissa has always been captivated by the nature surrounding her.
After starting small and traveling from art fair to art fair, Lissa opened Silverwaves Jewelry in 2016.
Lissa’s jewelry reflects Lake Superior and the natural world that surrounds her. Many of her pieces reflect the waves and ripples of Lake Superior and native stones in rustic settings made with organic sterling.
But if you know Lissa, she isn’t one to keep her incredible talent all to herself. Recently, she added a working studio as part of Silverwaves Jewelry called Workshop 46.8° N.
Lissa crafted a fully equipped jewelry workshop with the best equipment she could find.
From beginners to experienced jewelry makers, Lissa has curated a well-designed space for you.
So what kind of jewelry are we talking about?
From metalsmithing to beading and ring making, Lissa has created workshops for people of all skill levels.
Some of her jewelry-making workshops include:
Not only will you learn a new skill and make something beautiful but you’ll also be surrounded by the talents of other local artists and makers.
Lissa has truly created an environment meant to inspire. Here you’ll foster old friendships and make new ones. Be inspired by others’ creativity while surrounded by state-of-the-art equipment and a relaxing studio space. You might even decide to listen to your favorite boy band for old-time sake.
Lissa spoils you by providing:
Worried you don’t have the creative mind to inspire you? Some of Lissa’s workshops include kayaking and dog sledding to help you find inspiration from Lake Superior and the outdoors. Use the backdrop of Bayfield to spark your creativity.
Adventure and jewelry-making all in one weekend.
